The paper discusses the stability rules that make it possible to perform the optimal setup of the radial-axial ring rolling process. To assure the continuous forming of the ring different conditions should be satisfied, some concerning the initial shape of the ring, others relevant to the motion of the mandrel, of the conical rolls and of the main roll. The paper presents firstly the mathematical models relevant to the correlations and the reasonable ranges of the key process variables aimed to assure the stable forming condition for the radial-axial ring rolling process.
