Der Ermüdungswiderstand beeinflusst die Dauerhaftigkeit einer Asphaltbefestigung maßgebend. Der einaxiale Zug-Schwellversuch simuliert die kombinierte Beanspruchung aus kryogener Spannung infolge thermisch behinderten Schrumpfes sowie aus Biegebeanspruchung infolge Verkehrs. Diese schwellende Zugspannung bewirkt neben der Vergrößerung der viskoelastischen Dehnung auch progressiv zunehmende viskoplastische Verformung. In der Literatur wird dazu angemahnt, dass der herkömmlich zur Auswertung herangezogene Ermüdungseffekt, die Verringerung des Elastizitätsmoduls, durch den Aufbau großer Dehnungen verfälscht wird.
