This work is devoted to the simulation of cometary activity and of the solar wind-comet interaction. Cometary activity is calculated from a macroscopic thermophysical nucleus model consisting of the heat- and mass transfer problem of cometary nuclei. The model accounts for heat conduction, heat advection, sublimation, and gas diffusion in a porous mixture of dust, water ice, and CO ice. The characteristic feature of this model is the treatment of surface erosion due to surface sublimation as a moving boundary value problem allowing to take properly into account the loss process of internal energy of the eroded sub-surface layers.
