Als Instandsetzungsmörtel werden heute im Allgemeinen polymermodifizierte Mörtel und Betone (PCC) eingesetzt. Häufig wird dabei unter Berufung auf eine Porenradienverkleinerung im Zementstein den PCC ein verbesserter Widerstand gegen von außen eindringende Schadstoffe zugeschrieben. Vereinzelte Untersuchungen zur Sulfatbeständigkeit von PCC zeigen, dass sich die Polymermodifizierung auch negativ auswirken kann. Hier besteht erheblicher Klärungsbedarf. Im Laufe der vorliegenden Arbeit hat sich gerade die geringere Porosität gekoppelt mit einem ungünstigen Polymer als nachteilig hinsichtlich der Dauerhaftigkeit der PCC erwiesen.
