Im Hinblick auf einen möglichst effizienten Einsatz lokal verfügbarer Ausgangsstoffe für Beton sind Kenntnisse der grundlegenden Wirkungsmechanismen zwischen Zement und Zusatzstoffen und deren technische Nutzbarmachung unerlässlich. Untersuchungen im Vorfeld dieser Arbeit haben gezeigt, dass neben den üblichen reaktiven Betonzusatzstoffen, wie z.B. Flugasche, auch hochfeine inerte Zusatzstoffe die Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit und die Gefügeentwicklung bei der Zementhydratation signifikant beeinflussen können, jedoch existiert bislang kein grundlegendes Verständnis der Wirkungszusammenhänge.
