Morphologie-gestützt wurde ein reproduzierbares Kultivierungsverfahren für den Basidiomyceten Schizophyllum commune DSM 6320 etabliert. Dazu wurde erstmals die statistische Versuchsplanung zur Beschreibung der Makromorphologie eines Pilzes eingesetzt. Die Morphologieanalyse konnte eingesetzt werden, um die Reproduzierbarkeit in aufeinander aufbauenden Kultivierungsschritten zu überprüfen. Sie wurde in Zusammenhang mit der reproduzierbaren Einstellung weiterer Kultivierungsparameter, z.B. der Biotrockenmasse, gestellt (Struktur-Eigenschafts-Beziehung).
