A key question in psycholinguistic research on second language (L2) sentence processing is how L2 users derive sentence structure and meaning from a linear string of words encountered during on-line (real-time) comprehension. Most L2 sentence processing studies have focused on late (adult) L2 learners to examine learners who began learning an L2 after childhood process sentences in the same way as native speakers do (for review, Hopp, 2021; Roberts, 2018).
