Biodiversity monitoring is an almost inconceivable challenge at the scale of the entire Earth. The current (and soon to be flown)generation of spaceborne and airborne optical sensors (i.e., imaging spectrometers) can collect detailed information at unprecedented spatial, temporal, and spectral resolutions.
