In fusion devices, the accurate reconstruction of the boundary location and shape from magnetic diagnostics is of paramount importance for the efficient control of the plasma evolution and the safe running of the experiment. In addition to a good and consistent performance in the reconstruction, the task must be performed in real time as the input for the shape controller and more in general for the scenario optimization. To this aim, a statistical procedure for the evaluation of the reconstruction capability of different magnetic sensor sets is presented, which can drive the choice for an optimal set to be used for the reconstruction of plasma location and boundary shape during real time operation. In addition, an algorithm to approximatel...
