Alien registration card, 1945 At the beginning of World War II, Gertrude Perlmann immigrated to the United States where in 1946 she joined the faculty of the Rockefeller Institute as a Commonwealth Fund Fellow. She was a member of the faculty for 28 years, rising to the rank of Professor.
