Sabin with her colleagues at The Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, ca. 1930s In New York, Sabin led a group of younger investigators and continued her studies on the role of the monocyte and other white blood cells in the defense of the body against infections. Sabin\u27s team participated in an inter-institutional program organized by the National Tuberculosis Association\u27s Medical Research Committee to integrate bacteriological, chemical, and biological studies being carried out in pharmaceutical companies, universities, and federal and private research institutes.
