Add to ORKGThe Ugubu was a popular instrument with the Zulu of Natal several generations ago but few are now left in Natal. With the exception of one or two minor details this instrument is in the same as that of the Zulu. The chief modification is the use of a straining bridge to increase the tension of the bark string. This bow was made of a length of Tete reed 5 ft. 2 1/4 inches long and about 1 1/4 ins. diameter, and had an unusual method of straining the single string.
