The paper deals with the use of a personal computer (PC) equipped with an interface system in the on-line control of a permanent magnet brushless motor drive. The description of the PC interface system is firstly given. Then the drive control scheme is illustrated. The scheme includes the speed loop, the direct and quadrature current loops and the required actual-to-dq and dq-to actual stator variable transformations. Afterwards the implementation of the control scheme on the PC is detailed. Experimental measurements of the performances of the PC controller in different working conditions are presented and discussed
