The Reality of the Reflective Competence in Nursing Students

Reflective Competence helps students comprehend the underground knowledge, increase the dialectic in assessment, and flexibility in applying knowledge into practice. In the nursing profession, reflective Competence is the key to helping students acquire the ability to analyze and synthesize knowledge, skills, and attitudes to implement an effective and safe patient care process. The study aims to determine the level of reflective Competence of nursing students and identify factors to develop reflective Competence for nursing students. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 461 nursing students at Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University. The study has shown that the reflective Competence of nursing students has been identified as medium level. An important factor in developing reflective competency is the lecturer's role in organizing clinical practice activities
