This essay discusses the influence of social capital on graduates’ job searches at six and twelve months after graduation. To illustrate this point, analysis of demographic variables, social and familial backgrounds, extracurricular activities and work experiences, and the social capital of the community graduates belong to, are presented. The social capital of the family and that of the community represent a resource that multiplies the students’ and graduates’ relational capability. Logistic regression models show that it influences labour market opportunities. Data are drawn from the Agora survey carried out by the University of Padua on its own students who graduated in 2007 or 2008
