Malachite green, a triphenylmethane dye, is used in aquaculture to limit the growth of protozoans and fungi in fish. It is also employed in the food, medicinal, and textile sectors. MG has high toxicity covering micro organisms and higher eukaryotes. Its toxic effects include organ damage, developmental abnormalities and mutagenic/carcinogenic potentials. Hence it is of utmost importance to degrade MG.
