BACKGROUND/AIMS: Body-tail pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease with a low resectability rate and a poor prognosis. Celiac axis invasion usually contraindicates resection. The aim of this study was to analyze the feasibility of distal pancreatectomy (DP) with celiac axis resection (DP-CAR) for locally advanced body-tail pancreatic cancer. METHODS: All DPs performed between January 1989 and December 2007 were considered. DP and DP-CAR were reviewed for pre-, intra- and postoperative data.
