This paper presents a meta-heuristic optimization algorithm which is based on the intelligent foraging behavior of honey bee swarm and called artificial bee colony (ABC). This algorithm is applied to find out optimal placement and sizing of Solar Photovoltaics Distributed Generation (PVDG) units under considering multiple objective functions in a distribution system. Considerations of the objective function include total power loss reduction and voltage profile improvement while harmonic distortions (THD and IHD) comply with harmonic standard IEEE-519.
