The study evaluates the ability to absorb heavy metals Pb, As of ferns and cold in different contaminated soil environments. Thereby, the basis of the application in improving heavy metal contaminated soil in the northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam is formed. Research results show that Ferns absorb Pb very well and we can grow them normally in soil Pb concentration of 3.000 ppm. At the same time, ferns can also absorb As well. However, the plant grows badly when As contaminated soil is at the level of above 500 ppm. Cold (Biden Pilosa L) absorb Pb worse than ferns and they grow well in soil contaminated with 1000 ppm Pb and 500 ppm As. At higher concentrations, plant growth is affected, yield decreases and the plant may even die
