The aim of the present investigation is screening of phytochemical constituents for its free radical scavenging activity of hexane extract of Cassia fistula leaves. The preliminary screening was carried out by standard chemical method. It evidenced that the presence of phytochemicals such as alkaloids, anthraquinones, saponins, phenols, tannins, flavonoids and terpenoids in the hexane extract. Various functional groups like alcohols, phenols, carboxylic acid and ketones were associated with the extract were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
