Relaciones de España con Iberoamérica entre 1979 y 1982

In this article we will analyze the main events that shaped the political relationship of Spain and Latin America between 1979 and 1982, during the second mandate of Adolfo Suárez and Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo. The main source of information is the documents contained in the archive of the minister of External Affairs José Pedro Pérez Llorca. Additionally, documents from an archive of Marcelino Oreja, which are of public domain; and press articles of El País and ABC will be used. These documents shed light on the politics developed during that time, as well as on the type of relationships maintained and its specific manifestations, the mediation applied in some Latin American conflicts which arose on that historical period along with the means that were developed to bring external affairs politics to a democratic government.En este artículo analizaremos los principales hechos que marcaron la relación política de España con Iberoamérica entre 1979 y 1982, en tiempos del segundo mandato de Adolfo Suárez y del de Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo. Utilizaremos como fuente primaria documentación del archivo del ministro de Asuntos Exteriores José Pedro Pérez Llorca, documentos del archivo público de Marcelino Oreja, así como artículos de prensa de los diarios El País y ABC. Esta documentación aporta luces sobre la política desarrollada en ese tiempo, el tipo de relaciones mantenidas, sus manifestaciones concretas, la mediación ejercida en algunos de los conflictos iberoamericanos suscitados en este periodo, así como los medios dispuestos para ejecutar una política exterior enmarcada en un sistema de gobierno democrático
