Now, the LSPMSM's start characteristics, which play an important role in LSPMSM popularity, are still under consideration. A LSPMSM's model in the d-q reference frame is often used to simulate LSPMSM's start characteristics. During run-up period,the phenomena of saturation and skin effect occur but these have not been taken into account for the model. Hence, a LSPMSM's modified model considering saturation and skin effect is proposed in this paper. Here, LSPMSM's parameters are nonlinear. For evaluating the accuracy of the proposed model, LSPMSM's start characteristics simulated by the model will be compared with the results of finite element analysis and a 3 phase 2,2 kW prototype LSPMSM. All results are in good agreement
