Solutions for Solid Waste Management Based on the 3r Approach in Thanhkhe District of Danang City

All municipal and rural districts in Danang City have been initiating their own environmental protection projects toward a master plan to build this city into an “environmental city” which has been strongly emphasized by the city government in the socio-economic development strategy for Danang City until the year 2020. However, most of those districts are facing many obstacles during the implementation of such environmental projects, among which the issue of municipal solid waste management is a big challenge, especially to the urban districts. In this paper, the authors reviewed current status of solid waste management in Thanhkhe District – one with the smallest area but the most density population in Danang, and then propose some measures to improve the process of domestic waste collection and treatment for this district based on the 3R of reduce – reuse - recycle approach to meet objectives set out by national strategy and the city plan on municipal solid wastes management
