In recent years, Operational Modal Analysis, also known as Output-Only Analysis, has been used for the estimation of the parameters of structures such as buildings, bridges, towers and mechanical structures. One advantage of this method is that expensive excitation equipment can be replaced by ambient vibration sources such as wind, wave, and traffic whose vibrations are used as input for unknown magnitude, and are then modelled as white noise in modal identification algorithms.
