The aim of this study was to test whether occupational and organizational commitment may predict citizenship behaviors, job burnout and intentions to leave the organization or the occupation. Participants were nurses working in two hospitals; a questionnaire was applied. To test the hypotheses, structural equation models were evaluated. Findings show that the exhaustion component of burnout and the intentions to leave the organization or occupation are influenced by both types of commitment. The cynicism component (burnout) is, in contrast, explained only by the occupational commitment (affective). Neither occupational nor organizational commitment affected prosocial dispositions (citizenship behaviors)
