A comparison of different movie adaptations regarding the lives of historically important personas: Betrayer (2020), The Night of the Decision (1993)

This bachelor thesis, entitled Comparison of movie adaptations of the lives of important personalities: Betrayer (2020), The Night of the Decision (1993), elaborates on different methods used in production of movies portraying lives of important historical figures. The theoretical part of this thesis delves into the research of evolution of the movie industry in modern history and the problematics related to historical figures. Furthermore it analyses various cinematic methods of expression and discusses the nature of artistic representation in relation to a historical event. The thesis thus attempts to answer the question of what are the possibilities of working in Czech cinematography related to historical themes. The second part of the thesis focuses on the exploration of the films: Betrayer (2020) and The Night of the Decision (1993), both of which portray an important historical figure and various historical events from the Second World War. The analysis of these movies was done through the most broadly used methods in cinematography such as camera work, post-editing, music, and environmental setting of the movie. Which all help to reveal either the differences or similarities between the films. The aim of this thesis is to describe and explain the fundamental attributes of a historical film which...Bakalářská práce, s názvem Komparace filmových adaptací životů významných osobností: Anatomie zrady (2020), Noc rozhodnutí (1993), se zabývá otázkou zpracování historicky významné osobnosti ve filmové tvorbě. Teoretická část práce stojí na popsání historického vývoje filmu a problematice zpracování historické osobnosti. Rozebírá filmové výrazové prostředky a věnuje se podstatě uměleckého zobrazení ve vztahu k historické události. Práce se tak snaží odpovědět na otázku, jaké jsou možnosti pracovat v české kinematografii s historickým tématem. Druhá část práce se zaměřuje na zkoumání filmů Anatomie zrady (2020) a Noc rozhodnutí (1993), které se oba věnují historickým osobnostem a zároveň historickým událostem z období druhé světové války. Tyto filmy jsou analyzovány skrz výrazové prostředky, kterými je kamera, střih, hudba a prostředí, a které pomáhají odhalit odlišnosti nebo podobnosti filmů.
