The Chamber of Deputies elections 2021: Strategy and communication of the pre-electoral coalition SPOLU

This thesis examines the pre-election coalition SPOLU (the coalition of ODS, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL) from the perspective of communication studies and coalition theories. In doing so, it places the formation of the SPOLU coalition in the political and social context of the Chamber of Deputies election in 2021 and presents the strategy behind the coalition's electoral campaign. It is a single-case study, which was created with regard to the societal impact of the formation of the SPOLU coalition. The coalition's electoral success led to the defeat of the anti-establishment ANO movement, which had an absolutely dominant position after the 2017 elections. The thesis also presents the process of post-election negotiations, which subsequently led to the formation of the so-called five-coalition government consisting of ODS, TOP 09, KDU-ČSL, Piráti and STAN. The data was collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with representatives of individual coalition parties. This paper offers a unique insight into the background of coalition negotiations and the creation of a joint election campaign, while also taking into account the individual strategy from the perspective of each party. Respondents' testimonies are supported by data taken from a content analysis that compared coalition communication in...Tato práce zkoumá předvolební koalici SPOLU (koalici ODS, TOP 09 a KDU-ČSL) z pohledu komunikačních studií a teorie koalic. Tím zasazuje vznik koalice SPOLU do politicko-společenského kontextu voleb do PS PČR v roce 2021 a představuje strategii, která za komunikací koalice stála. Jedná se o jednopřípadovou studii, která vznikla s ohledem k celospolečenskému dopadu vzniku koalice SPOLU, neboť její volební úspěch vedl k poražení antiestablishmenotvého hnutí ANO, které mělo po volbách v roce 2017 naprosto dominantní postavení. Práce představuje také proces povolebního vyjednávání, z něhož následně vznikla vláda tzv. pětikoalice složená z ODS, TOP 09, KDU-ČSL, Pirátů a hnutí STAN. Data byla získána v rámci polostrukturovaných hloubkových rozhovorů se zástupci koaličních stran, práce tedy nabízí jedinečný vhled do zákulisí koaličního vyjednávání a tvorby společné volební kampaně, přičemž bere ohled i na individuální strategie z pohledu jednotlivých stran. Výpovědi respondentů jsou doplněny o data z obsahové analýzy, která porovnávala komunikaci koalice v různých částech volebního cyklu.
