Difficulties in informal caregiving for older adults at home

Difficulties in homecare(giving) for an elderly family member. This bachelor thesis focuses on the issues of home elderly care and on difficulties that are related to it. Based on available literature it presents related topics in the first part of the thesis. In the second part case studies are used to describe several practical experiences of caregivers. This thesis is based on facts about contemporary demographic development. It focuses on the aging of the population and on elderly social care. The focus is given to home elderly care and difficult aspects that are connected to it. In the practical part of the theses qualitative methods of semi-structured dialogue were used. The aim was to find out how individuals who are taking care of non-self sufficient family member experience this situation, why they chose to proceed the way they did, and if they received appropriate information about the possibilities of professional assistance. The aim is also to ascertain how the care influenced their health, financial situation and social life. The analysis of these dialogues showed that the most immense stress for a caregiver is to take care of a person with behavioural and perception disorders with whom it is hard to communicate. Caregivers who take care of such a person alone are under an even greater...Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou péče o seniora v domácím prostředí a úskalími, která tuto práci v současné době provází. Na základě dostupné literatury představuje související témata a formou případových studií popisuje některé praktické zkušenosti pečujících osob. Práce vychází ze současného demografického vývoje a soustředí se na téma stárnutí ve společnosti a na péči o seniory. Největší pozornost je věnována péči o seniory v domácím prostředí a problematickým aspektům, které s péčí o seniora v domácím prostředí souvisí. V praktické části bylo pomocí kvalitativní metody polostrukturovaného rozhovoru zjišťováno, jak osoby, které dlouhodobě pečují o nesoběstačného člena rodiny, tuto péči prožívají, proč se rozhodly tímto způsobem pečovat a zda získaly odpovídající informace o možnostech odborné pomoci. Také jak péče ovlivnila jejich zdraví, finanční situaci a sociální život. Analýza rozhovorů ukázala, že největší zátěží pro pečovatele v rodině je péče o člověka s poruchami chování a vnímání, se kterým je obtížné se dorozumět. Rizikovým faktorem je, pokud o takovou osobu pečovatel pečuje sám. Jako nejzávažnějším úskalí při péči byl vyhodnocen nedostatek informací, zejména těch, které se týkaly možnosti využití sociálního poradenství a pomoci od konkrétních poskytovatelů sociálních služeb.Department of Social WorkKatedra sociální práceEvangelická teologická fakultaProtestant Theological Facult
