The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the digitalization of Czech political parties

The aim of the thesis is to assess the impact of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic on the process of digitalisation of Czech political parties. The first part will provide the necessary insight into the issue of digitization of political parties and the tools that parties can use in it, including their consequences. The second part will focus on the nine most important Czech political parties (ANO 2011, ČSSD, KDU-ČSL, KSČM, ODS, Piráti, SPD, STAN, TOP 09), on the elements of their current digitization and the changes they have resorted to during the Covid-19 pandemic. We find that there are significant differences between the parties in their ability to successfully digitalize, which has manifested itself during a pandemic by their ability or inability to adapt flexibly to new conditions, adopt new digital tools and thus keep the party running effectively. The thesis will answer whether these differences, and thus the way in which the parties coped with the Covid-19 pandemic, are related to their structure and organization.Cílem diplomové práce je posouzení vlivu celosvětové pandemie nemoci covid-19 na proces digitalizace českých politických stran. První část poskytne potřebný vhled do problematiky digitalizace politických stran a nástrojů, které při ní strany mohou využívat, včetně jejich důsledků. Druhá část se pak zaměří na devět nejvýznamnějších českých politických stran (ANO 2011, ČSSD, KDU-ČSL, KSČM, ODS, Piráti, SPD, STAN, TOP 09), na prvky jejich dosavadní digitalizace a změny, ke kterým se uchýlily během pandemie covidu-19. Zjistíme, že mezi jednotlivými stranami jsou značné rozdíly ve schopnosti úspěšné digitalizace, což se projevilo během pandemie jejich schopností či neschopností pružně se adaptovat na nové podmínky, přijmout nové digitální nástroje a udržet tak efektivní chod strany.
