The connection of small generators into existing electrical distribution systems presents a number of new technical and economic challenges for electric utilities. In this work the main parameters of embedded generator and distribution network affecting stability are analysed with the aid of detailed dynamic simulations for various types of network disturbances. Particular emphasis is given to the shaft accelerating torques resulting from network voltage dips and outof-synchronism reclosures. The use of decoupling reactors as a means of mitigating network disturbance effects is discussed
