LIMBAH BUAH PISANG SEBAGAI BIOAKTIVATOR ALTERNATIF PADA PENGOMPOSAN SAMPAH ORGANIK

Abstract Banana fruit waste (LBP) can reduce environmental aesthetics both in terms of beauty and odor. One solution to overcome this problem is to use LBP as a natural bioactivator (BA) to help compost. The purpose of this study was to determine the composting time and compost quality. The research was carried out in two stages: making BA; and the composting process. The manufacture of BA was carried out for 14 days with 2 treatments of adding granulated sugar (GP): 200 grams of GP (notation S1); and 250 grams of GP (S2 notation) as well as one repetition, then stirred every 3 days until the solution becomes clear light brown and forms a thin nata layer on the surface. S1 meets the criteria as BA with a composting time of 30 days, by checking the temperature and weighing the compost every 3 days. Compost weight shrinkage to 56%, dark brown in color, temperature 320C, smells like soil, P2O5content, K2O content and water content according to SNI 19-7030-2004, while pH, N, C-organic, the C/N ratio is not in accordance with SNI 19-7030-2004. Keywords : Banana waste, Natural bioactivator, Composting Abstrak Limbah buah pisang (LBP) dapat menurunkan estetika lingkungan baik dari segi keindahan maupun bau yang ditimbulkan. Salah satu solusi mengatasi hal tersebut dengan memanfaatkan LBP menjadi bioaktivator (BA) alami untuk membantu pengomposan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui waktu pengomposan dan kualitas kompos. Penelitian dilaksanakan dua tahap: pembuatan BA; dan proses pengomposan. Pembuatan BA dilakukan selama 14 hari dengan 2 perlakuan penambahan gula pasir (GP): 200 gram GP (notasi S1); dan 250 gram GP (notasi S2) serta satu kali ulangan, kemudian diaduk setiap 3 hari sekali sampai larutan menjadi coklat muda bening dan pada permukaannya membentuk layer nata tipis. S1 memenuhi kriteria sebagai BA dengan waktu pengomposan 30 hari, dengan pengecekan suhu dan penimbangan berat kompos setiap 3 hari sekali. Penyusutan berat kompos menjadi 56%, berwarna coklat kehitaman, suhu 320C, bau seperti tanah, kadar P2O5, kadar K2O dan kadar air sesuai SNI 19-7030-2004, sedangkan pH, N, C-organik, rasio C/N tidak sesuai SNI 19-7030-2004.
