To cope with the ever-increasing demand for higher data rates, reduced latency, and improved coverage, new technologies are needed to advance the current state of wireless communication systems. One of the promising new additions to fifth-generation (5G) basestations is the use of massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology. The key concept is to equip the basestation with tens or hundreds of radio-frequency (RF) transceiver chains, all utilizing the same time-frequency resources simultaneously.
