Introduction : In France, 6.6 million people are living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and about 11,000 people start renal replacement therapy (RRT) every year. Research has shown CKD can affect patients and their families. On the other hand, adjustment to the disease, particularly before and during treatment choice, has not been investigated much. Our first objective was to explore relatives' influence on patients' mental health and vice versa. The second was to examine the individual and family factors involved in patients' psychological adjustment during the period of treatment choice.
