The CO2 emissions from anthropogenic activities have caused severe environmental problems, which demand the development of CO2 reduction technologies. CO2 chemically utilization especially CO2 methanation (CO2 + 4H2 = CH4 + 2H2O, ΔH298k=-165 kJ/mol) provides a route to convert the excess CO2 to synthetic natural gas (CH4) using renewable energy.
