Silicon and germanium atoms have different electronic and steric properties compared to those of the carbon atom. These differences can be valorized in organic chemistry to synthesize silylated and germylated heterocycles which could be interesting for pharmaceutical, perfume or material sciences. Nowadays, access to these heterocycles remains a central concern in synthetic chemistry.
