More than half of the world's population uses social network sites. Their ubiquity raises therefore the question of their impact on individual well-being. However, social network sites are not a homogeneous medium. Hence, our first objective was to investigate their specificities. Through seven studies (N = 813), including one documentary, we examined the affordances, social norms, and motivational antecedents of the world's most popular platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok).
