The study concerns the horse’s representation in ancient Greek sculpture, from the 6th to the Ist c. BC. It relies on the analysis of 126 stone and bronze sculptures from mainland Greece, islands, Western colonies and Greek East, described in a separate catalogue through analysis sheets. The first part of the study concerns the analysis of the materials and the techniques: the goal is to verify their evolution over time and their influence on the iconographical change but also to distinguish the elements that, in the representations, derived from technical limits and those resulting from the artisan’s artistic choices.
