In this thesis we are interested in the generation of vorticity and the propulsion of small boats by the Marangoni effect. First, we present a study on the production of vorticity at the edge of Marangoni flows created on a layer of water. These flows are obtained by the deposition of water-soluble surfactant molecules capable of changing the interfacial tension locally between water and air. The surface tension gradient that appears along the interface between air and water sets the two fluids in motion on either side of the interface. The deposition of these molecules with a constant flow generates a quasi-stationary flow that extends over a finite distance.
