The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the conflicts related to the contrasting translation of the principles of the travelling model of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Burkina Faso. This country is often internationally considered as a "success story" in the implementation of IWRM principles in Africa. It was the first West-African country to adopt IWRM with the support of a diversity of actors, poorly coordinated, through their institutional cooperation and international solidarity actions. However, local realities at the scales of two contrasting sub-basins (Ziga sub-basin of Nakanbé and the Kou Valley of Mouhoun) reflect "resistance" to certain IWRM principles as conceived in the countries where they were design...
