Due to the increasing demand for higher safety and reliability of the dynamic system, fault detection and diagnosis (FDD), as well as fault tolerant control (FTC) are becoming effective methods to avoid breakdowns and disasters of major systems. Therefore, this thesis focuses on developing observer based fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control strategies for complex nonlinear systems.
