Discourse on food insecurity in college campuses is an expanding topic. Currently, the dominant literature on hunger in college campuses focuses on rates of prevalence and case studies for different higher education institutions. In this thesis I focus on the importance of reframing food insecurity around trauma-informed nutrition, a case study on Pitzer College’s Community fridge and a feasibility study to try to answer the following questions: how does injustice and inequality surrounding food manifest on college campuses? how does mutual aid and community organizing help mitigate food insecurity on college campuses? How would the implementation of a meal swipe/flex donation program decrease the level of food insecurity at Scripps College
