Automated handling of braided EUR-pallets

The purpose of the project was to develop a concept that will be able to store and unpackbraided EUR-pallets for Goodtech Solutions AB. Goodtech Solutions AB is a company thatprovides services in automation, robotics and digitization. The goal was for the concept to bedelivered with a CAD model and fulfill the safety rules that could be considered relevant forthe concept and at the same time be financially profitable. The work began with examining what other solutions on the market looked like. Even if nopallet magazine for braided EUR-pallets was found, competitors' solutions could be used asinspiration for the concept. The requirements and wishes specified for the concept have beendefined together with Goodtech Solutions AB. This resulted in the requirements for theconcept being that the magazine must have the capacity to be loaded with 20 braided EURpallets, It must be possible to load the magazine from the front with either a manual ormotorized pallet truck, the braided EUR-pallets must be turned so that every pallet that leavesthe machine is dose it with topside facing up and that the concept takes into account thesafety rules that exist. To identify which safety requirements were relevant, the MachineryDirective was examined on the Swedish Work Environment Authority's website. This led tothat moving parts were adapted so that the risk of contact that could lead to accidents hadbeen minimized. At a later stage in the concept development, it was decided that the chosensolution would do best behind closed gates to meet the safety requirements that exist. The concept was divided into three sub-solutions. One for handling the stack with braidedEUR-pallets, One for turning and one for transport between the cassette and the turning.For each solution, three different concepts were generated. The best for each sub-solutionwas selected and together formed the final concept. A 3D model of the concept wasdeveloped in the Creo software and the mechanisms for separating, lifting and turning the EUR-pallets were tested to ensure that it works as intended. The concept was built for the most part from standard components that can be ordereddirectly from the supplier. Some parts of the lifting and turning device do not consist ofstandard components and need to be further developed before manufacturing
