International audienceAchieving a career in the legal profession in England and Wales can be particularly challenging for people from minority backgrounds. This chapter examines the composition of the judiciary and the crisis of confidence that arises from its imbalance, with a discussion of the concept of intersectionality. The reforms implemented since the 1990s and the disappointments that have followed are analysed, such as the establishment of the Judicial Appointments Commission.
