International audienceAfrican litigation is on the increase, despite the withdrawal of the declaration of Article 34(6) of the Protocol by Benin and Côte d’Ivo- ire. The Court deals with a variety of issues in its contentious and advisory jurisdiction, ranging from the independence of the judiciary, to the subtleties of the facets of fair trial, the criminalisation of vulnerable persons, and last but not least, the essential elements of a well-functioning democratic society.
