Hydroelectricity is a renewable form of energy produced from turbines driven by generators which transforms the kinetic energy obtained from fast flowing water to mechanical energy. It is the most extensively used form of renewable energy and as at 2019, it accounts for over 18% of the global power generation capacity (Britannica, 2020). Hydropower possesses an increasingly significant role in grid scale storage of energy, it provides equilibrium for other renewable sources such as wind and solar power. It still holds a vast potential for further development since less than 25% of its technical potential is been exploited (Letcher, 2019). </p
