This thesis examines the way in which the Second World War affected children onthe one hand, and transformed their care and the way in which Western Europeansocieties perceived them on the other. Using two main corpuses - one composed ofarchives produced by the youngest children (school work, drawings, diaries, etc.) and theother of documents drawn up by the actors around them (ministries, NGOs, experts, etc.)- it compares three areas marked by a return to peace and democracy in the second halfof the 1940s: France, Western Germany and Italy.This work follows a ternary rhythm.
