Through the history. Archaeological landscapes and contemporary infrastructures

Stratification and presence, layers and discovery The landscape is set as multiple concept identifiable, in reference to the historical-archaeological assets, as visual story and stratification of signs, substratum on which the man and the history leave the trace of their life cycle; the solitary and magnetic, emotional and poetic landscape in its vastness; the hidden landscape, evoked by small details (Raimondi 1995; Ceruti, Laszlo 1988). Multiform stratified landscapes, Fossil Landscapes, Eco-cultural Landscapes Archaeological landscapes are formed, in reality, by the actions of people that work at different spatial levels with different skills of integration and coordination. In the same measure, characters of archaeological landscape is determined by a whole natural processes that operate with variety of spatial levels and flows sequences in a continuous transformation, mutation, metamorphosis (Cambi, Terrenato 1994). Infrastructures - Archaeological landscapes Interaction: inserts, interferences, intrusions The concept of mobility infrastructure is in transformation. It is not only a connection among different zones, it is not enough to refer to the moving or to the crossing, but it’s affirmed by systems of linear signs, that innervate landscape and feed the processes of growth and transformation of historical territories. In such sense, the archaeological landscape is constituted as reference base able to direct the modifications. It’s possible to realize, in fact, different morpho-typological conditions in archaeological breakthrough-infrastructure relationship: adherence and overlap; intersection and the resewing; proximity and closeness; the penetration and the accessibility (Scazzosi 2003). By the definitions, it results that it’s impossible renounce an integrated planning, finalised to overcome the conception of back design: the infrastructure project requires, therefore, to consider pre-existences layers, from the choice of the layouts up to a more detailed environmental insertions -that change the territory in irreversible way-, the ecological-environmental system, the landscapes aspects of crossed places (Kipar 2003). It deals with a strong demand, specific of actual cultural approach - sets at the base of the European Convention of Landscape - that claims the right to quality of places of life, asks attention and protection for their specificities, guarantee of maintenance of the identity of population (P. Baldi 2003)
