One of the most important problems to address in the study of a transport network is the assessment of its capacity, considered as a parameter to indicate the performance of the network. The present paper recalls a generalized concept of road network capacity (capacity function) that is not reliant on knowledge of the current traffic demand and the need to establish the growth trend beforehand.
