¿Religiosas desafiliadas, religiosamente indiferentes o creyentes sin religión?: Morfología de los no afiliados en Argentina

This article aims to characterize the socioeconomic and demographic profile of the population without religious affiliation in Argentina as well as their beliefs, practices, and attitudes toward a range of issues related to public and private life. This is a social conglomerate that has grown exponentially in the region and worldwide, but it has been little explored by the social sciences of religion in Latin America. The research was based on the Second National Survey on Religious Beliefs and Attitudes in Argentina, which was carried out in 2019. The study universe was made up of the population of the Argentine Republic aged 18 years or more, living in localities or urban agglomerations with at least 5000 inhabitants. A total of 2421 cases were selected through a multistage sampling. The analysis of the data reveals that it would be inaccurate to say that the religiously unaffiliated do not convey religious beliefs. Almost three out of 10 (most of those who responded do not belong to any religion but neither defined themselves as agnostics or atheists) believe in God and in Jesus Christ. Given that they are the most numerous sub-group and with the highest growth rate within the religiously unaffiliated, it would be unwise to consider this fringe of the Argentine citizenry as a-religious. Nor can we unify them under the category of disaffiliates. Although six out of 10 have a history identified with some religion (and in those cases, it is indeed possible to observe a process of religious disaffiliation), the remaining 40% show paths defined by the alienation from the institutionalized religious spaces since their earliest age.Este artículo tiene como objetivo caracterizar el perfil socioeconómico y demográfico de la población sin afiliación religiosa en Argentina, así como sus creencias, prácticas y actitudes frente a diversos temas relacionados con la vida pública y privada. Este es un conglomerado social que ha crecido exponencialmente en la región ya nivel mundial, pero que ha sido poco explorado por las ciencias sociales de la religión en América Latina. La investigación se basó en la Segunda Encuesta Nacional de Creencias y Actitudes Religiosas en Argentina, realizada en 2019. El universo de estudio estuvo conformado por la población de la República Argentina de 18 años o más, residente en localidades o aglomeraciones urbanas con por lo menos 5000 habitantes. Se seleccionaron un total de 2421 casos a través de un muestreo polietápico. El análisis de los datos revela que sería inexacto decir que los no afiliados a una religión no transmiten creencias religiosas. Casi tres de cada 10 (la mayoría de los que respondieron no pertenecen a ninguna religión pero tampoco se definen como agnósticos o ateos) creen en Dios y en Jesucristo. Dado que son el subgrupo más numeroso y con mayor tasa de crecimiento dentro de los no religiosos, sería imprudente considerar a esta franja de la ciudadanía argentina como a-religiosa. Tampoco podemos unificarlos bajo la categoría de desafiliados. Si bien seis de cada 10 tienen antecedentes identificados con alguna religión (y en esos casos sí es posible observar un proceso de desafiliación religiosa), el 40% restante muestra caminos definidos por la alienación de los espacios religiosos institucionalizados desde edades más tempranas.Fil: Esquivel, Juan Cruz.
