This project describes the different factors to consider when working in the commercial aviation turbofan engines maintenance industry. It describes the engine and its components operation in order to understand the maintenance necessities of the engine. The description of the engine systems follows the ATA 2200 classification system, which is a widespread industry standard practice. Next, the legal maintenance requirements imposed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) are reviewed. A detailed description is made of the requirements affecting the continuing airworthiness of the aircraft and its components.
